#291: Without words naming

The commentary by Lévy in the press yesterday voted me very thoughtful, as prompts to designate something, what so unintentionally, was absent and long repressed in Europe – the war. He has reached Europe. “So war. A new war. A war with or without borders, with and without a state …” (Lévy,2015)

He encourages, to call that thing by its name, to name it. Thus, it is understandable in all’ its disgusting dimensions.

But what does that mean for me? If the war has no boundaries and no state concerns, how should and Austria may be neutral? What does this mean for civil society in Europe? No names the consequences. Restriction of freedom, Restricting democracy, Restriction which?
There is a new war. war, the word conceals so much, from what we just want to close their eyes. That's why Paris hits us more, als es Beirut, Kenya, Lebanon or at Sinai did. The war came to us. I am … against fear … Still, more than ever.

David Enoch wrote in his book “Taking Morality Seriously”: “…we need normative truths. But how is this any reason at all to believe that there are such things? Perhaps you will establish that it would be nice if there were normative truths, or that we deeply want them to exist.” (Enoch, p.56) I understand the arguments Lévy, but if we allow the war to be here war, then we have lost in Europe.
